Medical/Psychiactric Services
Psychiatric services include clinical oversight and consultation of all non-psychiatric mental health staff, psychiatric evaluations, medication evaluations, consultations to all area hospitals, emergency rooms, jails, the juvenile detention center, local courts and schools, and processing of emergency detention and court commitments.

Emergency Services
Swanson Center provides emergency psychiatric and substance abuse intervention services to the people of LaPorte County on a twenty-four hour a day, seven day a week basis. The Emergency Services Program of Swanson Center is available to intervene in any situation with any person in emotional crisis. These services include intake evaluation, face-to-face counseling sessions, telephone consultations, and assessment for hospitalization.

Inpatient Hospitalization and Medical Services
Swanson Center contracts with LaPorte Hospital for psychiatric inpatient services. The Center views hospitalization as a short term option for an individual who needs to be stabilized on medication and needs the treatment milieu of the hospital. The Medical Director is administratively responsible for inpatient services with a staff psychiatrist who offers treatment on the unit.
